Education of its members and the general public is a major goal of the Linn Conservancy and is handled in a wide variety of ways.

  • Through our videos, Vision of a Valley (13 minutes), Montandon Marsh: A Wonder in Our Backyard (20 minutes), and You Are What You Drink: Reasons to Know and Protect the Buffalo Creek Watershed (20 minutes) which are available for presentation to groups, overnight loan or purchase at $10 each. Copies of these videos are also in area public and school libraries.

  • Through our office's lending library which includes several hundred books including the scientific work done at area sites such as a breeding bird survey and a hydrological study at the Montandon Marsh as well as texts on land conservation options and estate planning strategies.

  • Through educational walks, trips, presentations, and seminars that are presented on an on-going basis for members and the public. The most current Linn Log has the upcoming events as does the home page.

  • Through our trail brochures and the Rural Routes series one can learn of very special sites to bike or ride to.

  • Through the columns in the Linn Log and one that appears every other month in the Daily Item one can learn of other members' thoughts about environmental issues such as light pollution or the personal satisfaction in having a property protected forever.

  • Through member attendance at regional, state and national meetings devoted to the latest thinking in land conservation issues such as watershed protection and land conservation methods, one has opportunities to better serve the Merrill W. Linn Land & Waterways Conservancy.
